Muppets and Happy Feet Triumphantly Return

This coming Thanksgiving season is a time of family, thanks, Muppets and penguins. That’s right, Muppets and penguins. For those who may not have heard, the highly anticipated release of Happy Feet 2 and The Muppets hits theaters this holiday week. Both are expected to be box office smashes, especially considering the timing of release.

Let’s take a closer look at each:

The Muppets

The Muppets Christmas Carol | Holiday Movie PosterThe Muppets franchise is getting an overhaul and actor Jason Segel is leading the charge. Segel, famous for his screenwriting and acting in various Judd Apatow flicks, is quite an unlikely figure to be championing a children’s movie. However, the previews seem to show a reinvigorated Muppets that will be awesome to see. The story shows a couple of fans who find the old Muppets studio scheduled for demolition in order to tap into the oil that lies beneath it. Refusing to allow this, the fans and a new Muppet, Walter, go around the world reuniting all the Muppets. Along their trip, they find the Muppets in the most hilarious of situations and the whole thing seems subtly reminiscent of Blues Brothers and Animal House: Where Are They Now-style plot lines. Overall, this is just what this franchise needs and will surely be entertaining for anyone in your family.

Happy Feet 2

The Original Happy Feet Movie PosterMumble is all grown up! That’s right, our favorite tap-dancing penguin has grown up and has a son of his own. This second installment in the Happy Feet franchise shows Mumble’s son, Erik, as being a penguin who is reluctant to dance. A fantastic tale of growing up and fatherhood, this film offers life lessons through catchy songs and stunning visuals. Great timing, along with a star-studded cast, will surely make this movie a box office hit and has something everyone can enjoy or relate to.
