The NFL Lockout is Over and the Long-Awaited Season Has Finally Begun!
After a tough off-season for the fans, NFL football is finally back. Even if you are not an NFL football fan, you can elate at the joy of those who are. However, there are iconic names and faces that did not grace opening day gridirons across America.
Peyton Manning, the quarterback standard, did not start the season for his team, the Indianapolis Colts. The seemingly larger than life Colts field general, as you may well know, has been suffering from an acute pain in the neck – and we do not mean the Houston Texans. Following a week one loss to the Texans, it is safe to say that Manning now means even more Colts fans everywhere.
Brett Favre is another name we’ve not heard this season. After runs with the Green Bay Packers, the New York Jets and the Minnesota Vikings, Favre is officially done. The future Hall of Famer can be found now in nostalgic pictures, memorabilia, Wrangler Jeans commercials and the hearts of every Green Bay Packers fan in Wisconsin.
What both of these players bring to football is much more than good statistics. They both have a tremendous fan-base around the country. But what of the houses that these sporting giants called home? Fans gather in enormous houses to watch their teams battle it out on the field for supremacy. No matter how bad a team may be, this gathering is nothing short of spectacular. Fans from seasons past earned their team colors the hard way. Stadiums of the past called upon fans to endure weather and climate extremes not meant for mere mortals. But in these castles of football carnage, fans witnessed the birth of legends. Like the ancient Coliseum in Rome, sporting fans were entertained by a very carefully choreographed spectacle of war. Today is no different.
So today, Posterazzi would like to pay homage to the stadiums of the National Football League and to all of the fans who religiously fill them. You are apart of the mystique. You are the 12th man.
What are your NFL stadium experiences? What is the best stadium for tailgating parties? What are the stadiums you’d like to see an NFL game in? Which is better: indoor dome-type stadiums, outdoor stadiums or hybrids? Which NFL city has had the best upgrade to their stadium? We’d love to hear from you.
